Since its founding in 2016, Owlcat Games has released just three titles, but it seems the studio, comprised of former Nival Interactive members, is now picking up the pace.
Recently, Owlcat engaged in a Q&A session with YouTube bloggers, answering some of their most pressing questions. The YouTuber behind the channel Slandered Gaming shared the most intriguing revelations from the discussion:
- The studio is currently working on four different games, each based on a well-known intellectual property (IP).
- None of these games are related to the Pathfinder, Starfinder, Icewind Dale, World of Darkness, Star Wars, or Dungeons & Dragons franchises.
- All upcoming titles from Owlcat Games will feature full voice acting.
- One of the projects is a high-budget RPG developed on Unreal Engine 5, though more traditional genre games with isometric perspectives are also in the works.
- Owlcat Games hasn’t ruled out the possibility of eventually creating an entirely original project unrelated to any existing series.
The studio’s latest release, the sci-fi RPG Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader, debuted last December. Like previous Owlcat titles, it was well-received, though with some reservations—particularly concerning its technical execution, which fell short of expectations.
