The Terminator film franchise has been in decline since the third installment but managed a modest comeback in video game form. Now, an anime adaptation from Netflix is on the horizon, with the streaming service recently releasing a teaser.
Set in Japan shortly before Judgment Day in 1997, Terminator Zero follows scientist Malcolm Lee, who is developing an artificial intelligence to combat Skynet. However, he soon discovers that he and his family are being hunted by a cyborg assassin, and a mysterious soldier from the future is trying to protect them. The plot closely mirrors the premise of the original film.
Timothy Olyphant will voice the Terminator, while Andre Holland will voice Malcolm Lee. The animation is handled by Production IG. The anime is set to release on Netflix on August 29.
