The creators of Baldur’s Gate III are developing modding tools as a final touch.

Nearly a year after its official release, Baldur’s Gate III remains a hot topic, continuing to make headlines thanks to accolades like the BAFTA awards. While the game has certainly cemented its place in the hearts of fans, Larian Studios is ready to move forward. Their final gift to the game’s community will be a set of modding tools.

At the “An Evening with Baldur’s Gate III” event hosted by BAFTA, Larian Studios’ founder Sven Vinke announced that the studio is working on a program that will allow fans to create their own content for Baldur’s Gate III. This utility will serve as a parting gift, marking the end of major updates for the game. While Larian Studios will continue to address significant bugs, no more substantial additions are planned. Vinke mentioned that the team is eager to focus on new projects.

Vinke also highlighted the importance of “Early Access” for projects like Baldur’s Gate III. The team recognizes that it’s impossible to please everyone, but they value player feedback, especially from those who supported the game during its early development stages. This respect for early adopters has been a cornerstone of their development process.

American gamers can look forward to these modding tools, which will allow them to dive even deeper into the rich, fantasy world of Baldur’s Gate III and create their own adventures.
