The company has announced the closure of the Notes project, which was launched in November of last year. The idea behind Notes was to allow users to leave their annotations on search results or articles within the company’s search engine feed. However, after a period of testing, it was decided to discontinue the experiment.

The company noted that the Notes project was an exploration aimed at helping users share their knowledge with each other. Google refers to its Search Labs platform as a testing ground for various projects, which may or may not see widespread adoption.

The insights and findings from the Notes testing will be utilized in future projects, also focused on user interaction. The Notes feature will remain active until the end of July, after which the company will deactivate it.
