T-Mobile Secures Long-Term Contract with U.S. Navy

T-Mobile announced on Thursday that it has been awarded a significant contract by the U.S. Navy to deliver communication technology under the $2.67 billion Spiral 4 agreement, spanning the next decade.

This contract arrives at a challenging time for telecom providers, who are facing a sluggish wireless market and intense competition.

The Spiral 4 contract allows Department of Defense agencies to procure wireless services and equipment from T-Mobile, including voice, data, fixed wireless solutions, Internet of Things (IoT) technology, and mobility management solutions to support government operations.

T-Mobile’s stock saw a slight increase by midday following the announcement.

Back in 2017, T-Mobile, along with Verizon Communications and AT&T, secured the Spiral 3 contract valued at $994 million, which lasted for five years.

In addition to T-Mobile, companies like Echostar, Verizon, and Wide Point have also recently secured positions in the $2.67 billion Spiral 4 contract.

T-Mobile highlighted that government agencies can also benefit from its partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX. In January, SpaceX launched a Starlink satellite equipped with direct-to-cell technology, with T-Mobile providing the wireless network.
