SpaceX has unveiled the Starlink Mini, a compact version of its satellite communication terminal that can operate on power from a portable battery.

The new Starlink Mini, which is roughly the size of a standard laptop, is designed for rapid deployment of internet access anywhere on the planet where the service is available. According to SpaceX, the Starlink Mini is a portable kit that fits easily into a backpack, providing high-speed, low-latency internet on the go. The device measures 298.5 x 259 x 38.5 mm and weighs 1.1 kg for the dish alone, or 1.53 kg including the stand and a 15-meter power cable. It is protected against the elements with an IP67 rating, making it rainproof.

One of the key features of the Starlink Mini is its built-in router, eliminating the need for any additional equipment. It requires 20-40 watts of power, making it possible to run it off a power bank. The device can deliver internet speeds up to 100 Mbps.

Contrary to rumors that suggested a lower price compared to the standard Starlink version, the Mini is actually more expensive at $599. Additionally, the monthly service fee for internet access is higher, at $150 per month, compared to the standard $120.
