While adaptations of The Last of Us and Fallout have been met with critical acclaim, the movie adaptation of the action series Uncharted didn’t fare as well with critics and fans despite its box office success. However, this hasn’t dampened Sony’s enthusiasm.
According to Variety, Sony has listed another adventure of young Nathan Drake among its upcoming projects. Unfortunately, no further details have been disclosed. This news isn’t too surprising to movie enthusiasts, as representatives from Sony Pictures had previously indicated significant plans for the well-known franchise following the successful release of the 2022 blockbuster.
The original Uncharted film, titled Uncharted: Not on the Map, starred Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming) and Mark Wahlberg (The Happening). The film spent so long in pre-production that Wahlberg, initially cast as Drake, aged out of the role and instead played his partner, Sully.
This sequel is highly anticipated, especially in the USA, where the first movie enjoyed substantial box office success despite mixed reviews. Fans are eager to see how Sony will continue to develop Nathan Drake’s cinematic adventures.
