As leaked earlier, Samsung revealed the budget-friendly Galaxy Watch FE ahead of its main presentation. Unfortunately, the 44mm variant didn’t arrive, only the 40mm option is available. It features a durable 1.2-inch OLED display with sapphire glass.
To cut costs, it runs on the Exynos W920 processor instead of the latest W930. It has 1.5GB RAM and 16GB storage but lacks a temperature sensor. However, it retains ECG, heart rate, bioimpedance sensors, and classic location sensors. The battery is reduced compared to its “big brothers” at just 247mAh.
The watch is IP68 splash resistant and 5ATM water resistant. Connectivity includes LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.3. It runs on the OneUI Watch 5 system like more expensive models. Available colors are pink, blue, and black. The Bluetooth version will cost $199 and will be available from June 24 in the USA, while the LTE version priced at $249 will follow later this year.
Introducing the Galaxy Watch FE now is a strategic move, as the upcoming Samsung Unpacked event promises to be significant with foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Ring, and premium watches on display. In such a flood of new products, a budget device would have been overshadowed quickly.
