Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman has reported, citing industry sources, that the upcoming iOS update will not include the anticipated Apple Intelligence AI features. He also provided an updated timeline for when these neural network capabilities might make their debut on Apple devices.
Apple’s next major OS update is scheduled for September. According to Gurman, none of the firmware updates, including iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, will feature the AI functions due to the company’s readiness issues. However, all other non-AI-related updates are expected to be released on schedule.
Unofficial reports suggest that the Apple Intelligence software package may be trimmed, with some features possibly being pushed to 2025. The primary AI functionalities are now expected to be unveiled in October, a month after the iPhone 16’s presentation, coinciding with the first update of the new firmware. These new features will be available only on devices equipped with A17 Pro processors (iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max) and Apple M chips.
