Nextorage Unveils Compact Yet Fast SSD for Portable Consoles

Nextorage, a brand owned by Sony, has launched its G Series ME NVMe drive in the M.2 2230 form factor. Despite its compact size, this new release, designed for gaming consoles, offers impressive data transfer speeds.

According to the manufacturer, the SSD boasts sequential read speeds of up to 7500 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 6200 MB/s. For random read/write operations, the drive can reach up to 750,000 and 850,000 IOPS, respectively. The drive’s endurance is rated at 600 TBW for the 1TB model and 1200 TBW for the 2TB version.

Both configurations feature 3D TLC memory, and the lack of a DRAM buffer is offset by an SLC cache. The Nextorage G Series ME will retail in the U.S. at $149 for the 1TB model and $265 for the 2TB version. The official release date for the new SSD will be announced soon.
