Recent details have surfaced online regarding Intel’s next-generation processors from the Arrow Lake-S family. According to these reports, the chips will no longer support DDR4 memory.
Based on the presented slide, Intel Arrow Lake-S processors will exclusively support DDR5 memory. Additionally, the LGA-1851 platform designed for these chips will not be compatible with DDR4. Other notable features include:
- Direct connection of two M.2 SSD ports to the processor.
- Support for 16 dedicated PCIe 5.0 lanes for graphics cards.
- Four additional PCIe 5.0 lanes for storage and PCIe 4.0×4 interface.
- Integration of Thunderbolt 4 controllers supporting up to four displays via Arc Xe-LPG graphics.
- Support for USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, USB 3.2 Gen 2×1, and USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports.
- Wi-Fi 7 support.
The release of the new Intel processors is expected in the third quarter of 2024.
