LG Display has announced the mass production of 13-inch Tandem OLED panels designed for laptops. This technology offers several advantages over traditional OLED and is used in the latest iPad Pro displays.
Unlike standard OLED screens, Tandem OLED technology uses two emitting layers of red, green, and blue (RGB) colors instead of one. This design results in three times higher brightness and twice the lifespan. Additionally, Tandem OLED provides ultra-high resolution WQXGA+ (2880×1800), covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, and supports Display HDR True Black 500 for deeper black levels.
According to LG Display, this technology also reduces energy consumption by 40%, which is crucial for AI-driven laptops and other high-performance devices. Furthermore, it decreases panel thickness by 40% and weight by 28%, making it ideal for equipping premium, compact laptops.
