Google is testing a new feature called Audio Search that could eliminate the need for apps like Shazam. This tool will allow users to identify and search for audio tracks from various sources without needing to install third-party apps. Enthusiasts discovered hints of this upcoming feature in a recent APK file for Google’s image search tool, Circle to Search, and have unraveled how it might function.
According to available information, the new feature will enable users to identify songs playing on their device or music coming from another source. Additionally, Audio Search will even recognize tunes hummed by the user. Unlike other similar tools, Google’s built-in algorithm won’t require any installation or special setup.
Like Circle to Search, the new tool will be compatible with various third-party apps. A dedicated icon featuring a musical note will appear next to the search bar to activate the function. Currently, the feature is in the testing phase, and it’s unclear when it will be widely available.
