Recent rumors suggested that HUAWEI was planning to release a smartphone capable of expanding to three times its size. The company has now officially addressed these claims.
Richard Yu, CEO of HUAWEI, confirmed during a live stream this week that the company is indeed working on a triple-folding device. While he did not go into specifics, additional details have emerged from insiders.
According to the well-known informant Digital Chat Station on Weibo, HUAWEI’s device will feature two hinges and will be powered by a Kirin 9 series processor. The gadget is expected to introduce several new technologies to the smartphone industry.
Rumors indicate that the device will unfold into a tablet with a screen size of around 10 inches. When folded, it will be comparable in size to conventional smartphones. The official announcement is anticipated in September of this year.
