The Owl SP600, an electric hypercar from Japanese company Aspark, has claimed the title of the fastest electric car in the world, surpassing the Rimac Nevera and breaking the previous 2022 record by a substantial 26.7 km/h. The vehicle reached a top speed of 438.7 km/h.
Aspark, founded in 2005, dedicated nearly a decade to developing this hypercar. The Aspark Owl first appeared as a prototype at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017. In 2018, it was tested on a track, achieving an impressive 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 1.89 seconds.
In 2019, the Aspark Owl was equipped with a 1480 kW engine producing 2000 Nm of torque. By 2024, the company had updated the hypercar’s configuration, resulting in a production model boasting an output of four engines with a total power of 1456 kW or 1953 hp, and torque of 4600 Nm for each rear wheel and 2120 Nm for each front wheel.
These specifications enable the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.78 seconds. The model features a 69 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing a range of up to 400 km and supporting fast charging.
