Designed for PUBG and eSports: Launching Games on Infinix GT 20 Pro

The Infinix GT 20 Pro is positioned as a gaming smartphone, evident from its high-tech styled back cover and impressive LED lighting effects that can be adjusted in settings. However, in practice, technical specifications are more crucial, especially since resource-intensive games demand robust mobile hardware.

The smartphone is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chip, built on a 4-nanometer process. It features one Cortex-A78 core at 3100 MHz, three Cortex-A78 cores at 3000 MHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2000 MHz. Graphics are handled by the Mali-G610 MP6 accelerator. It boasts 12 GB of RAM, which can be increased to 24 GB by reserving part of the internal storage.

The device includes a Pixelworks X5 Turbo chip for image optimization, direct charging bypass feature, Esports Mode, advanced cooling system, and other options directly or indirectly enhancing gameplay.

Benchmark Testing

To begin with, we ran synthetic tests on the Infinix GT 20 Pro to assess overall performance. The results closely mirrored those reported in reviews, with Geekbench 6 scores of 1046 in single-core mode and 3455 in multi-core mode. In the PCMark Work test, we achieved almost 16,500 points.

Gaming Experience

Testing the smartphone through its built-in launcher, particularly the Esports Mode for PUBG and other useful options, allowed us to tweak settings and monitor game performance in real-time. Following the manufacturer’s recommendations led to the following outcomes:

  • PUBG Mobile: As the official smartphone for the PUBG Mobile Super League, the Infinix GT 20 Pro supports gameplay at 120 fps, providing a competitive edge in fast-paced battles. Initially set at 90 fps, switching to “Ultra Extreme” mode in the game settings unlocked the desired 120 fps, ensuring responsive gameplay during intense battles.
  • Genshin Impact: Ran smoothly on high graphics settings at 30 fps. The smartphone maintained moderate temperatures, delivering detailed scenery and smooth gameplay transitions, even when accessing character equipment menus.
  • CarX Street: A racing simulator with an open world and pleasant graphics ran smoothly on the Infinix GT 20 Pro, showcasing quick game loading times and responsive controls for competitive gameplay.

Conclusion

The Infinix GT 20 Pro offers sufficient performance to handle any mobile game effectively. While not every game supports maximum graphics settings, this mid-range smartphone offers the capability to run games at 60 and even 120 fps without frame rate drops or significant throttling.

This new Infinix release is an excellent choice for students or gaming enthusiasts, potentially even helping some uncover their talents in mobile eSports.
