Last week, Larian Studios released a massive patch for Baldur’s Gate III. Alongside new story content, including additional evil endings, the update introduced a handy mod manager for downloading and installing custom modifications. Fans of the game welcomed this feature enthusiastically.
According to Swen Vincke, within the first 24 hours, fans downloaded over a million mods using the new tool. Although the Larian CEO didn’t specify which mods were the most popular, he expressed his amazement at the community’s enthusiasm. Commenters on his tweet assured him that this was just the beginning. A few hours later, the founder of ModDB noted that the number had already reached three million downloads.
It’s important to mention that Larian Studios is not done refining Baldur’s Gate III yet. The team plans to add a photo mode and cross-play support. Michael Douse, the company’s publishing director, also hinted that this won’t be the last major patch for the game. In other words, there’s still a lot more in store for fans.
