Apple Announces Release Date for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18: Which Devices Will Get the Update?

During the iPhone 16 unveiling, Apple also shared when other iPhones and iPads would be upgraded to iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. The company released an official list of devices that are guaranteed to receive the update this year.

iOS 18 introduces support for Apple Intelligence (available only on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and newer models), an enhanced Siri, and new customization options for the Control Center and home screen. The devices set to receive the update include:

  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone SE (2020) and SE (2022)
  • iPhone XS and XS Max
  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max

iPadOS 18 will also bring Apple Intelligence to iPads, along with an advanced calculator, improved Notes, an updated Control Center, and more customization options for the interface. The iPads that will receive the update this month include:

  • iPad Air (M2)
  • iPad Pro (M4)
  • iPad (7th generation and later)
  • iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 11 (1st generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 12.9 (3rd generation and later)

The rollout of these updates across all supported devices will begin on September 16.
