A Chinese insider, known by the alias Golden Pig Upgrade Pack, has leaked the specs of the yet-to-be-released AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, designed for gaming handheld consoles. According to the report, this upcoming chip will boast a powerful integrated GPU, similar to that of the flagship Ryzen AI 9 HX 370.
The AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme will be an eight-core mobile processor with 16 threads, featuring a hybrid architecture that combines three high-performance Zen 5 cores with five energy-efficient Zen 5C cores. The clock speeds for these cores remain undisclosed for now.
The chip’s integrated GPU, based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture, is said to include 16 compute units. This setup is comparable to the AMD Radeon 890M found in the flagship Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, which is roughly on par with the mobile version of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2050. It’s currently unclear which portable console will be the first to feature this powerful new AMD hardware.
